Welcome to Nursery

Billingham South Nursery is a happy and friendly place where children will learn skills that will stay with them through their school life. For many, it is the start of the Early Years Journey and their first experience in a school. We want to provide a safe and comfortable space for children to build their confidence emotionally, socially and academically.

We follow the ‘Birth to 5 Matters’ guidance to plan a well-rounded Early Years curriculum, covering the areas of Personal Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Communication and Language, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. During their time with us, children will do science experiments, create amazing artwork, learn about world events, explore the great outdoors, build positive friendships and much more. Our activities link with our topics, and we encourage a love of learning through an engaging, play-based curriculum.

We work on our number and literacy skills through maths and phonics lessons, as well as incorporating these skills into different play-based activities. We also love to read and share a story daily. The children do weekly PE lessons where we play games, work on movement and learn how to stay safe while using different equipment. We also take part in the Toothbrushing Scheme and brush our teeth daily.
